On 16th May 1975 Sikkim became an Indian state amd this year the state is celebrating 50 years of statehood. The turning point of 1975 is significant from five crucial perspectives, which includes, integration with India, realisation and fulfilment of democratic aspirations, remarkable developmental transformation, strategic and national security contribution and lastly global recognition for its unique mountain identity, conserved through peace, tranquility and traditional approaches. The Sikkim Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang spoke exclusively to NDTV about his states’ future plans and how the state continues to focus on growth, tradition and preserving its unique identity and position.
