A power struggle intensifies within the Karnataka Congress as the government reaches its two-and-a-half-year mark. The conflict centres on an alleged power-sharing agreement between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Supporters of DK Shivakumar are in Delhi to meet with the party’s high command, reminding them of the purported deal for a change in leadership. According to the DKS camp, ‘there was an agreement between Sidhramayya and D.K. Shivkumar stating that after completing two and a half years, exactly today, they will hand over the Chief Minister’s post to D.K. Shivkumar.’ Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah has indicated he will remain in his position and present the next state budget, while the Congress high command has not officially commented on the matter.
