In Bengaluru, Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje praised the Karnataka government’s decision to give women one paid day off for menstruation as a good step, but said the government must make sure it works properly. She wondered if private companies, especially in the garment industry where many women work, will follow it. Karandlaje criticized the Siddaramaiah government for not delivering schemes on the ground and said even its MLAs are unhappy. She added that it doesn’t matter who the Chief Minister is—DK Shivakumar or Siddaramaiah—the state’s progress should not stop.
