Delhi: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor criticised the government’s response to Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi’s statement in Parliament, questioning why the Centre appears afraid of a discussion on China. Calling it “a pity,” Tharoor said the government should have encouraged an open debate to clear the air on an issue of national concern. He urged the External Affairs Minister and Defence Minister to speak in Parliament and inform the nation, warning against brushing sensitive matters under the carpet. Tharoor said avoiding discussion on China is unhealthy for democracy and the proper functioning of Parliament.
