Seven HMPV Cases in India: Health Officials Urge Calm Amidst Respiratory Virus Concerns

Seven cases of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) have been detected in India, primarily in children. Health officials emphasise that HMPV is a common respiratory virus, not a new threat. Union Minister JP Nadda has appealed for calm, stating it’s a routine increase in respiratory infections. The virus, first identified in 2001, typically causes mild cold-like symptoms and is less virulent than COVID-19.
