US Ambassador to India, Sergio Gore, hailed the development, stating, ‘All credits to Modi-Trump leadership’ while praising the vision of both nations. Under the new framework, US tariffs on Indian goods will be reduced to 18 per cent, providing a significant boost to Indian exporters, particularly in the MSME, textile, and jewellery sectors. In exchange, India will reduce tariffs on a wide range of US industrial and agricultural products, including tree nuts and soybean oil. Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that the deal reflects the ‘growing depth, trust and dynamism’ of the bilateral partnership. While Union Minister Piyush Goyal described the agreement as a gateway to a $30 trillion market, Opposition MP Manish Tiwari has called for a discussion on the deal in Parliament. The agreement also outlines a roadmap to increase bilateral trade to $500 billion over the next five years.
