SEBI has cleared major reforms to ease doing business, allowing large foreign investors to net same-day cash market trades, significantly reducing funding pressure and operational costs. The regulator also simplified IPO disclosures with standardised abridged prospectuses and QR codes, and approved ease of business reforms for AIFs, REITs and INVITs. In a big relief for exporters, the government restored rates and value caps under the remission scheme, removing the 50 per cent cap imposed on 22nd February to help tackle high freight costs and Iran war-related trade risks. Markets rallied with Nifty 50 up 1.5 per cent as Donald Trump announced a five-day tariff pause, triggering stock gains in the US and Asia. Brent crude prices fell by more than 10 dollars, while gold and silver continued their plunge. SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey stressed that independent directors must back insinuations with proper evidence, as such comments impact minority shareholders, alluding to HDFC Bank’s recent controversy.
