Search and rescue operations are underway following a mudslide that occurred on the fifth. The immediate focus is on evacuating tourists and residents. Approximately 400 tourists and residents from Gangotri have been moved to Harshil. With assistance from civil administration, civil helicopters, and the Indian Air Force, around 355 people have been evacuated from Harshil to Methali, south of Uttarakhand, and are being sent to Dehradun. Efforts are concentrated on restoring road connectivity between Uttarkashi, Harshil, and Dharali. Additionally, work is ongoing to re-establish mobile connectivity and electricity for villagers north of Harshil. Medical supplies are being moved, and affected individuals are receiving medical assistance and evacuation. Food and other essential resources are being brought in for those disconnected by road link disruptions. Coordination with NDRF, SDRF, local administration, and police ensures seamless rescue operations. Dog teams, drones, RECO radars, and engineering equipment are being deployed for relief and search operations.
