Following the Supreme Court’s oral observations questioning Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Chinese encroachment, Congress MP Karti Chidambaram has defended the Leader of the Opposition’s right to ask questions. Chidambaram questioned the precedent being set, asking if opposition MPs must now produce documentary evidence before raising issues of national concern. He highlighted the challenge for the opposition in accessing official documents, stating, "from where will opposition MPs get these documents? We don’t have access to bureaucracy. The government does and the government will never disclose many uncomfortable facts." Chidambaram argued that if this becomes the norm, it would be problematic for the opposition to function and hold the government accountable on behalf of citizens. The Congress party has voiced that such observations could make the working of democracy difficult. #kartichidambaram #rahulgandhi #supremecourt #itwebvideos #indiachina #oppositionrights #freedomofspeech #indianpolitics #democracy #righttoquestion #parliament #govtaccountability #nationalsecurity #indiatoday #congress #chinaborder
