In Delhi, CPI(M) MP John Brittas reacted to the statement of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Veer Savarkar.
Brittas said it would be unfair to freedom fighters if Bharat Ratna is given to Savarkar. He claimed Savarkar was not known for fighting British rule but for writing apology letters. He also said Savarkar aligned more with the British than with the freedom movement.
He further added that Savarkar is seen as the father of Hindutva, which he called divisive, and accused the RSS of using the issue to create polarisation in the country.
