AAP’s Saurabh Bhardwaj raised questions about statements made by Virendra Sachdev, identified as President of the Indian People’s Party (BJP) Delhi, who said that as proceedings advance, Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and others involved are criminals and will definitely be punished. Bhardwaj questioned how Sachdev could claim certainty about punishment when even the High Court judge handling the case would not know the outcome until hearing it. Similar questions were raised about BJP minister Kapil Mishra’s tweet stating ‘picture abhi baaki hai’ (the picture is yet to come). Bhardwaj referenced the February 2020 Delhi riots context, noting that Justice Muralidhar of Delhi High Court had directed police to file an FIR against Kapil Mishra and Anurag Thakur for hate speech on February 26, 2020, but was transferred late that night before the next hearing. Bhardwaj questioned whether these statements suggest knowledge of how Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma will decide the current case, and noted that the central government has approached the High Court to halt ED proceedings after the CBI case was dismissed.
