Sasikala has launched a new political party just months before the crucial Tamil Nadu state elections. The party flag features images of CN Annadurai, MGR, and J Jayalalithaa, though the party name has not yet been announced. Her nephew TTV Dhinakaran, who leads the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), has mocked the launch, drawing a parallel and claiming that 99 per cent of AIADMK cadre have joined the NDA alliance. Since her release from prison, Sasikala had been claiming she would unite the AIADMK and lead the party. However, senior leaders from AIADMK including Edappadi K Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam have joined TTV Dhinakaran’s faction instead. With barely two months remaining before the elections and without having announced the party name, Sasikala’s ability to play a major role in the upcoming polls remains uncertain.
