Indian cricketers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson discussed their journeys during the T20 World Cup in a candid interview. Abhishek revealed he was hospitalized before the tournament’s first game against USA at Wankhede. Despite being unable to stand properly and wearing jackets in the heat, he insisted on playing, saying, ‘Let’s try. You never know.’ Senior players advised him to rest, but he took courage to play at his favourite venue. Sanju Samson spoke about his transformation between the New Zealand bilateral series, where he scored only 46 runs in five innings and was dropped, and the World Cup final against the same opposition where he scored a match-winning 89. He explained the difference: ‘I was too desperate’ in the bilateral series, but in the World Cup, ‘I kind of figured out that now the team wants you.’ Both players emphasized the team culture under coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Suryakumar Yadav, where personal milestones were secondary to team needs. Sanju recalled being told he would play even after multiple ducks, a message that boosted his confidence.
