Indian Overseas Congress Chief Sam Pitroda has created a new controversy with his remarks on foreign policy. He stated that India’s policy must first focus on its neighbours and advocated for substantially improving relationships with Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal. Pitroda shared his personal experience, saying, "I’ve been to Pakistan and I must tell you, I felt at home. I’ve been to Bangladesh, I’ve been to Nepal and I feel at home." He reasoned that there is a "common gene pool" and that the people in these countries share cultural similarities with Indians. While acknowledging issues of violence and terrorism, he stressed the need to live in peace and harmony. His statement is anticipated to be strongly criticised by the BJP.
