In a shocking statement, Maharashtra Ports Minister Nitesh Rane has cast doubt on the recent knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan, who was hospitalized with six stab wounds, including one near his spinal cord.
Speaking after the actor’s discharge from Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital, Rane suggested that Khan may have faked the attack, claiming the actor appeared "fine" and was "dancing while walking" out of the hospital.
The crass, and incendiary, comments didn’t end there. "Look at what Bangladeshis are doing in Mumbai. They entered Saif Ali Khan’s house. Earlier they used to stand at road crossings… now they have started entering houses. Maybe he came to take him (Mr Khan) away. It is good… garbage should be taken away," the BJP leader said. Sanjay Nirupam, formerly of Congress and now part of Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena faction, also questioned the severity of Khan’s attack, claiming the actor appeared well despite being discharged just days after the incident.
