Filmmaker Hemanth has been arrested and sent to judicial custody following a complaint of sexual harassment by a female actor. The complainant, a winner of a reality show, alleged that Hemanth harassed her on the pretext of offering a role in a film, for which he promised to pay Rs. 2 lakh and had given a Rs. 60,000 advance. The allegations include being forced to do obscene scenes, being groped, and facing sexual advances during a trip to Mumbai. According to the actor, when she did not cooperate, Hemanth threatened to "…assault her using rowdies…". An FIR was filed at the Rajajinagar police station in Bengaluru, and police say they found evidence in text messages, leading to the arrest.
