Following a directive from the Kerala High Court, the Kerala government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the disappearance of four kilos of gold from the Sabarimala temple. The investigation centres on gold-cladded copper coverings from the Dwarapalika idols, which are now believed to be missing. For decades, devotees believed the coverings were solid gold, but the controversy revealed they were copper, a fact that has become a significant issue as the donor stated it was gold-covered. The reporter noted the central issue: "it was all this while it was considered to be gold it was actually copper and now that’s been an issue."
