On this Special Report, the focus is on the escalating political tension in Kerala as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launches a massive symbolic protest. On the auspicious day of Makar Jyoti at Sabarimala, the BJP is set to light ‘Sabarimala Samrakshana Jyoti’ (Sabarimala Protection Light) at over 10,000 centres across the state. The protest is directed against the Pinarayi Vijayan-led government over the alleged gold loot at the shrine. The speaker notes that the BJP will ‘demand CBI probe into the gold loot’ and express solidarity with devotees. Additionally, the Kerala High Court has ordered a vigilance probe into a separate ‘ghee scam’ involving the alleged misappropriation of ₹35 lakhs by Travancore Devaswom Board employees. The court described the lapses as a ‘grave dereliction of duty’. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has also previously urged the Chief Minister to transfer the gold theft investigation to a central agency to ensure a fair probe.
