Six people, including a child, were killed in a Ukrainian raid on a town in the Kursk region of Russia on Friday, according to a top local official. Alexander Khinshtein, acting governor of Kursk, reported that ten more people were hospitalized in Rylsk following the strike using HIMARS rockets provided by the United States. According to Russia, the attack was carried out in reprisal for Kyiv’s firing of American-made weapons into Russia. One day after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s year-end press conference, Russia launched its attacks on Kyiv. "For quite some time, but the bombing has continued," Charles Kupchan, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, said Putin has been discussing war-ending talks.
