Russia has launched a major overnight attack on Ukraine using the rarely deployed Oreshnik ballistic missile, killing at least four people and injuring dozens in Kyiv. Explosions were also reported near Lviv, close to the Polish border, where Ukrainian officials confirmed a ballistic missile strike on infrastructure. Moscow said the attack was in response to an alleged drone threat to President Vladimir Putin, which Kyiv denies. European and Ukrainian leaders have warned the use of the hypersonic Oreshnik missile is a serious escalation that threatens regional security.
