French President Emmanuel Macron came out swinging, portraying his nation as the potential new savior for Europe as the gap between the US and Europe deepens.
Macron made three main points:
1. Russian aggression "knows no borders," implying that Russia is a menace to all of Europe and won’t stop at Ukraine.
2. Without the US, Europe needs to be ready to protect itself.
3. The trigger is still in Macron’s hands, but France is willing to extend its nuclear umbrella to its European allies, which basically means deploying French nukes around Europe.
In retaliation, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev declared Macron’s dismissal, including the date.
