Speaking at an event in Kolkata, Bhagwat stated that ‘live-in relationships reflect that people are not ready to take responsibility’ and emphasized that ‘marriage is not just a means of physical satisfaction’. He asserted that the family is the ‘core unit’ of society where ‘Desh Ki bachat’ (nation’s savings) resides. Addressing the Babri Masjid replica row involving suspended TMC leader Humayun Kabir, Bhagwat termed it a ‘political conspiracy’ to reignite old disputes.
