Rane's 'Azaan in Marathi' Dare Escalates Maharashtra Language War | India Today

The language war in Maharashtra is escalating, with minister Nitesh Rane at the center of a new controversy. He has challenged the opposition, stating that instead of focusing on schools, they should push for the Azaan to be recited in Marathi in Madrasas. Rane said, "Madrasas should teach Marathi, not Urdu, to prove that no guns are being distributed there." He also commented on Muslim vendors allegedly using Hindu names for shops outside temples like Trambakeshwar. The Maharashtra Congress has condemned these statements as provocative, communal, and divisive. They argue that language and religion are separate identities and have challenged Rane to offer free Marathi classes to non-Marathi speakers. The opposition also pointed out that many Madrasas already teach English, Hindi, and in some cases, Marathi. #maharashtra #languagewar #niteshrane #itwebvideos #marathi #madrasa #azaan #urdu #congress #politics #mumbai #maharashtrapolitics #language #religion #communalpolitics #trambakeshwar
