In a heated exchange during the Winter Session of Parliament, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, clashed with the newly appointed Rajya Sabha Chairman, CP Radhakrishnan. The Congress President demanded an immediate discussion on the ‘Special Intensive Revision’ (SIR) of electoral rolls, which the opposition has termed ‘vote chori’ (vote theft). Kharge highlighted the urgency of the matter, citing the deaths of election workers, stating, ‘People are dying. And SIR is going fast… And , 28 people have died.’ The Chairman urged members to maintain order, noting that it was his ‘first day of working’.
