Violence broke out in Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh district as farmers protesting against the construction of an ethanol plant clashed with police. The situation escalated when a mob set at least 14 vehicles, including a JCB machine, on fire. Congress MLA Abhimanyu Poonia, who joined the protest over fears of soil contamination and harm to agriculture, was injured during the confrontation. Police resorted to lathi-charge and tear gas to control the crowd as tensions continued to rise.
