Rahul Shah, managing director of Bidyut Innovation, discussed the future of Indian robotics at the India Today Conclave. Demonstrating Chinese-made humanoid robots, Shah stated his vision for indigenous development: ‘Within three to five years, I am very confident that Indian robots will take over any other robots in the world.’ He emphasized India’s capability to build efficient robots at one-fourth the cost, drawing parallels to the Chandrayaan mission’s cost-effectiveness. Shah explained his company’s objective is to inspire students by exposing them to advanced robotics in educational institutions. The demonstration featured G1 robots performing choreographed dance moves, which Shah’s team coded in 8 to 10 days, and martial arts sequences. Shah highlighted India’s software strength while acknowledging the need to focus on hardware development to achieve the goal of having India-made, not just India-developed, robots within the stated timeline.
