Allegations have been raised against Congress MLA from Palakkad, Rahul Mankush, by multiple women, including a trans woman, an actress, and a writer. The trans woman has alleged that the MLA sent her messages on social media stating he wanted to rape her. In her statement, she said, "I think he is sexually frustrated because he said he wants to rape me, he said we can go to Bengaluru, Hyderabad and do it." Following the accusations from actress Rini Ann George and writer Honey Bhasker, the MLA has submitted his resignation as the Kerala Youth Congress President. He maintains his position as an MLA, calling the allegations baseless. There is now increasing pressure on the Congress leadership to seek his resignation from the legislative assembly as well.
