A war of words has erupted between Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. The Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition accused the Assam CM of corruption and threatened to have him jailed. Gandhi stated that his party will overthrow the BJP-led government in the next year’s assembly elections and that the Chief Minister will not be in power for long. He was quoted saying, "…in some time, this very media will show your Chief Minister going to jail, and neither Modi nor Amit Shah will be able to save him." In response, Himanta Biswa Sarma pointed out that Rahul Gandhi himself is out on bail in multiple criminal cases. Sarma added that the criticism from the Congress leader elevates his political stature. This exchange follows an update on the Pahalgam attack, with the J&K Lieutenant Governor confirming the NIA’s investigation continues as the three-month mark since the incident approaches on July 22nd.
