Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, at a news conference, alleged a large-scale, deliberate deletion of voters from electoral rolls, terming it an organised attempt at vote theft. Citing Karnataka’s Aland constituency, he claimed software was used to file fake deletion requests for thousands of voters, primarily targeting opposition supporters. He accused the Election Commission of acting in a biased manner, stating, "This is the proof that Gyanesh Kumar ji is protecting the votes." The Election Commission strongly rejected the allegations, calling them incorrect and baseless. The EC clarified that no voter’s name can be deleted without due process and pointed out that the Congress party’s candidate won the Aland assembly seat in the 2023 elections. The BJP has hit back, stating Rahul Gandhi is blaming the EC to cover up his own failures.
