Rahul Gandhi vs Election Commission: War Erupts Over Karnataka 'Vote Theft' Charge | India Today

A conflict has erupted between Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and the Election Commission over allegations of voter deletion in Karnataka. Gandhi claimed 6,000 votes were improperly removed using fake logins, an accusation the poll body called "incorrect and baseless". The State Chief Electoral Office responded that the matter was investigated two years ago, leading to the rejection of nearly 6,000 incorrect applications and the acceptance of only 24 genuine ones. The Congress questions why, if the matter is closed, the state’s CID has sent multiple letters to the commission seeking more information. The BJP has termed the allegations a baseless political stunt. A speaker highlighted the claim’s gravity, stating, "In the first phase, when the atom bomb was detonated, it was about the addition of votes. Today, it is mainly about the deletion of votes."
