A political conflict has erupted between the Congress party and the Election Commission. Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, alleged the poll panel allowed cheating in Karnataka during the Lok Sabha polls, claiming to have "concrete, 100% proof of Election Commission allowing cheating in a seat in Karnataka." Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated the Congress’s setback was due to the BJP’s illegal manipulation of the electoral process and misuse of the Election Commission. His deputy, D.K. Shivkumar, claimed a probe in the Bangalore Rural constituency found significant irregularities. The allegations include the addition of thousands of older new voters and voter deletions. The Election Commission has refuted these claims, calling them baseless and alleging that Rahul Gandhi threatened a constitutional body. The poll panel maintains that electoral rolls are prepared transparently and are shared with recognized political parties.
