Rahul Gandhi Cites Former Army Chief's 'Unpublished Memoir' To Attack Modi Govt On China

On this Special Report, the focus is on the intense political face-off in the Lok Sabha between the Modi government and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The confrontation erupted after Rahul Gandhi cited a magazine article allegedly quoting from the unpublished memoir of former Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane regarding the post-Galwan standoff with China. Gandhi stated, ‘This is not me, this is the army chief, this is what the army chief has written in a book,’ questioning why the government was allegedly preventing its publication. The Treasury benches and the Chair objected to the citation of unauthenticated sources, leading to repeated disruptions and sloganeering. While the BJP maintains that the armed forces were given a free hand to respond to Chinese incursions, the Congress alleges that the government is suppressing ‘uncomfortable facts’ about the national security situation in Eastern Ladakh. The session was eventually adjourned following the heated exchange over the former General’s purported accounts.
