The opposition has intensified its attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding claims made by former US President Donald Trump about mediating between India and Pakistan. In Parliament, Rahul Gandhi dared the Prime Minister to call Trump a liar. The Congress party alleges the government is on the back foot and cannot refute the claims because of a potential trade deal with the US. The Prime Minister, in a speech to Parliament, stated that no global leader had asked India to stop ‘Operation Sindoor’. He recounted receiving a call from the Vice President of the United States on the 9th of the month, warning of a potential attack from Pakistan. The Prime Minister said he responded by saying, "If Pakistan has this intention, it will have to pay a heavy price. If Pakistan attacks, we will attack hard and retaliate."
