This special report focuses on the Uttar Pradesh ATS investigation into Maulana Shamshul Hooda Khan, who has been booked for radicalization. According to the FIR, it ‘has been clearly alleged that he is a radical in India… and was continuously trying to promote Islamization’. The Maulana, who has taken UK citizenship and is currently in London, is accused of having links with radicals in Pakistan and Jammu-Kashmir. The FIR, filed in Sant Kabir Nagar, alleges he used an NGO, A Raza Foundation, to channel foreign funding to promote radicalization in the region. Authorities have since cancelled the NGO’s registration and seized properties of madrasas linked to him in Azamgarh and Khalilabad as they press forward with the investigation.
