Punjab is witnessing its worst floods in four decades, with incessant rainfall leading to over 30 deaths and the displacement of lakhs of people. Rivers such as the Ravi, Beas, and Sutlej are in full spate, inundating numerous areas including Gurdaspur, Firozepur, and Ajnala. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the next 48 hours. Rescue and relief operations by the BSF and NDRF are underway in marooned villages, where it is hard to distinguish "where the Sutlej is flowing and where is the flood water." While authorities deliver aid, some locals have expressed anger over delays.
