The death toll in the Punjab hooch tragedy has climbed to 21, with police arresting 10 individuals, including the alleged kingpin, for their role in the distribution of spurious liquor in Amritsar’s Majitha area, officials said on Tuesday. Deputy Superintendent of Police (Majitha) Amolak Singh and Station House Officer (Majitha) Sub-Inspector Avtar Singh have been suspended for “gross negligence” in discharging their duties, which police said contributed to the tragedy.
