Heavy rainfall has caused widespread flooding in Punjab, with all 23 districts declared affected. Over 30 people have been killed and more than 354,000 have been impacted, with 1,655 villages inundated. The Beas, Sutlej, and Ravi rivers have swelled, leading to significant damage. Massive rescue operations are underway involving the NDRF, BSF, Army, Navy, and the Indian Air Force. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited Amritsar and Gurdaspur, stating that two central teams are assessing the damage. An appeal was made to the central government for assistance, with one speaker stating, "there is such a great sorrow in Punjab, so the central government should also help Punjab." The floods have destroyed an estimated 1.48 lakh hectares of crops and damaged infrastructure, including posing a threat to the Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev memorial in Firozpur. The focus is on evacuation, relief, and the future challenges of recovery for affected residents. #punjabfloods #punjabrains #floods #heavyrains #floodalert #rescueoperations #ndrf #indianarmy #bsf #gurdaspur #firozpur #fazilka #sutlej #beas #ravi #cropdamage #floodrelief
