This legislation provides a 33 percent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies. The government aims to implement this quota ahead of the 2029 elections, alongside a proposed delimitation exercise that would significantly increase the number of Lok Sabha seats across various states. While the government seeks consensus with opposition parties, concerns have been raised regarding the delimitation process and the expansion of seats without adequate consultation. The event also highlighted various existing welfare schemes focused on women’s empowerment, financial inclusion, and health, reinforcing the broader vision of women-led development.
