President Droupadi Murmu has publicly criticised the West Bengal government over arrangements made during her recent visit to the state. The President expressed displeasure at being allotted a small venue in Goshaipur that could accommodate fewer people, resulting in low turnout at an event. She later visited the main settlement area where thousands gathered to meet her, stating that the larger field could have accommodated many more people. President Murmu also expressed disappointment over a protocol lapse, noting that neither Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Governor, nor any cabinet minister was present to receive her during the visit. The President indicated she was saddened by the arrangements and questioned whether the choice of venue was deliberate to limit public attendance.
