Ahead of the launching of Jan Suraaj as a political party on 2nd October, its founder Prashant Kishor said, "…At the beginning of Jan Suraaj campaign it was said that an important aim of this is to end the political helplessness under which in the last 25-30 years’ people voted for BJP out of fear for Lalu Prasad and Lalu Prasad out of fear for BJP due to the lack of any alternative. For this, the people of Bihar need to form a better alternative…That alternative should be a party of all the people of Bihar who want to form this together. So, in a way, one phase of that 2-2.5-year-long campaign is coming to an end. As a result, more than 1 crore people in Bihar will formally announce this party on 2nd October. The name of the party, Constitution, its provisions & its leadership will be announced. I have always said that I do not want to be the leader of the party…The biggest challenge is not to form a party or elect a president. I think winning the election is not the biggest challenge either. The biggest challenge is to awaken society…"
