In response to criticism over Bengaluru’s crumbling road infrastructure, highlighted by the potential exit of IT giant Black Buck, Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar has offered a unique defence. He stated that potholes are a nationwide issue, not exclusive to Bengaluru. Shivkumar is quoted as saying, "Potholes are everywhere, even road to Prime Minister’s house is potholes." He described the problem as a "systemic failure" across India and suggested the media was unfairly targeting Karnataka. The government is also engaging in a political blame game, with Shivkumar attacking the previous BJP administration for the poor quality of roads. The current government has given a deadline for repairs and is attempting to reassure companies that there is no reason for them to leave Bengaluru over this issue.
