A social media influencer and law student, Sharmishta Panoli, was arrested by Kolkata police from Gurugram over an allegedly communal video. The BJP has questioned the arrest, citing her deletion of the video and apology. The party accused the TMC of appeasement politics, while the TMC maintained it does not endorse divisive statements. Panoli has been remanded to judicial custody till 13th June 2025.
