Following an India Today exposé on factory violations, the owner of Srisan Pharmaceuticals, Raghunathan, has been detained by Madhya Pradesh Police for questioning. The detention is linked to a poisonous cough syrup allegedly responsible for the deaths of nearly 20 children in Madhya Pradesh and Pakistan. India Today had previously revealed significant irregularities, including improper disposal systems, at the company’s factory in Tamil Nadu. According to the report, "this is the cough syrup because of which close to 20 children have died in the state of Madhya Pradesh and in the state of Pakistan." Police teams from Madhya Pradesh arrived in Chennai to complete legal procedures before detaining the pharma head, with a strong possibility of an arrest.
