PM Narendra Modi LIVE: PM Flags-Off Yellow Line Of Bengaluru Metro And Takes Metro Ride
On August 10, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the much-awaited Yellow Line of Bengaluru’s Namma Metro, a 19.15-km stretch from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra, built at a cost of approximately Rs 7,160 crore. This Phase-2 expansion, featuring 16 stations, connects key residential, commercial, and IT hubs, including Hosur Road, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City, easing traffic congestion and enhancing public transport. The addition extends Bengaluru’s operational metro network to over 96 km, benefiting lakhs of daily commuters. PM Modi also took a metro ride from RV Road to Konappana Agrahara, experiencing the new line firsthand. During his visit, he flagged off three Vande Bharat Express trains at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station, connecting Bengaluru-Belagavi, Amritsar-Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra, and Nagpur (Ajni)-Pune, bringing India’s total Vande Bharat trains to 150. Additionally, he laid the foundation stone for the Rs 15,610 crore Phase-3 metro project, which will add 44.65 km of elevated tracks and 31 stations, further strengthening Bengaluru’s urban connectivity. In a public address at the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bengaluru, PM Modi highlighted the government’s commitment to world-class infrastructure and improved quality of life for residents.
