PM Modi's RSS Tribute: New Coin For 100 Years Features Bharat Mata | India Today News

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative postal stamp and a coin to mark 100 years of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). The Prime Minister stated that for the first time in India’s history, an image of Bharat Mata has been carved onto a coin. This specially designed coin features the RSS motto, "Rashtra Swaha, Idam Rashta, Idam Namama," which translates to "everything is dedicated to the nation, everything is nation’s, nothing is mine." The transcript also covers the history of the RSS, which was established by Keshav Baliram Hegdewar in Nagpur on September 27, 1925. The organisation was founded out of a perceived lack of cultural unity in the Congress and to respond to communal tensions. It aimed to unite Hindus and foster discipline, character, and national pride, though its history has also been marked by controversy, including a ban that was lifted in 1949.
