Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Gaya, poll-bound Bihar, for his sixth visit this year, launching a series of development projects. At a public rally on the Magadh University campus, projects worth ₹13,000 crore will be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid. This includes the inauguration of Asia’s second-widest six-lane bridge over the Ganga, connecting Begusarai with Patna, the Buxar thermal power plant, and the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Muzaffarpur. The Prime Minister is also flagging off two new trains. This visit, which includes Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is framed as a significant display of strength by the NDA, particularly in the Magadh region where the alliance’s performance was weak in the previous election.
