PM Modi's Marathi-Hindi banter With Ujjwala Nikam Amid Maharashtra language Row | India Today

Prime Minister Modi has made a light-hearted reference to the ongoing language controversy in Maharashtra during a phone call with Ujjwala Nikam. The Prime Minister jokingly asked Nikam whether he should speak in Marathi or Hindi, to which Nikam responded that Modi spoke in Marathi and congratulated her. This conversation took place while informing Nikam about her Rajya Sabha nomination. The language issue in Maharashtra has been tense, with recent incidents of violence reported. The situation escalated after a government resolution to make Hindi the third language in public schools was withdrawn due to opposition pressure. Both Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray have spoken out against the perceived imposition of Hindi in the state. #languagerow #maharashtra #pmmodi #rajyasabha #marathi #hindi #languagecontroversy
