In a Diwali address to Indian Navy personnel aboard the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted India’s growing self-reliance in defence and the significant success in curbing Maoist insurgency. He stated how the indigenously built carrier impacted regional security, saying ‘Vikrant…in its own name, gave sleepless nights to all of Pakistan during Operation Sindoor’. The Prime Minister detailed the nation’s progress, noting that defence production has more than tripled and exports have surged over 30 times in the last decade. He also declared that the country is on the verge of eliminating Maoist terror, with the number of affected districts reduced from over 125 to just 11.
