PM Modi Slams UPA Mismanagement, Urges Private Sector To Invest In Quality For 'Viksit Bharat'

In an exclusive interview with PTI, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that the latest budget serves as a roadmap for India’s transition into a developed nation by 2047. He criticised the UPA era for ‘economic mismanagement’ that he claimed weakened India’s global negotiating power, contrasting it with the current ‘position of strength’ enabled by political stability and manufacturing growth. The Prime Minister issued a call to action for the private sector, stating, ‘The next leap is for India to become Vixit Bharat, that will depend on how bold investment comes in from the private sector.’ He urged Indian companies to prioritise innovation, research, and quality control over merely protecting profit margins. Highlighting India’s digital leadership through UPI and its expansive infrastructure push, Modi emphasised that the government remains committed to reforms. He also noted that India has successfully negotiated trade pacts with nearly 38 nations, reflecting growing global investor confidence in the Indian economy.
