Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the Trinamool Congress (TMC) over the party’s boycott of an event attended by President Droupadi Murmu in West Bengal. The President had travelled to Bengal to participate in a significant celebration of Santhal tribal tradition. PM Modi accused the TMC of insulting President Murmu, who hails from the tribal community, and stated that the party has insulted the Constitution and the tradition of democracy. He claimed that the TMC government left the event to poor arrangements and boycotted the sacred programme. The Prime Minister said that such dirty politics and arrogance will shatter the TMC. Meanwhile, the Home Ministry has noted protocol lapses and sought a reply from the West Bengal Secretary. PM Modi made these remarks from the national capital, emphasising that insulting a tribal President reflects disrespect towards every woman who has achieved success through struggle.
